William Seymour day book, 1784-1790.

Seymour, a merchant in Hartford, Connecticut, also ran a saw mill, because one of his major products for sale was merchantable boards. He also sold iron, rum, sugar, various fabrics and dry goods. Several entries in 1784 mention Pay-table orders. Some individuals in the volume are identified by their occupation (shoemaker, blacksmith, rigger), and Seymour did business with Bob Negro and Prince Negro. Of note is a memorandum of iron delivered to Brainard for the Sloop Julia, which Seymour appears to have been building.
